You are right, of course. My method would not provide a good list for online, but would be perfect for film transfer, which is what the original post was about.
Best,

c-mode is FCP does not work.
Workaround: highlight all the clips in your sequence. Drag them into a new bin. Then sort those clips, within the bin, in ascending TC order. Then select all the clips and drag them into a new sequence. That sequence will be in ascending TC order – cmode. A regular Amode list made from that sequence will be what you want.

Thank you, Jeremy and Shane, for your speedy and helpful replies. I’ll reconsider…

Thanks for the reply, Shane. And I’m the first to admit that I am rather old school. Or maybe just old.
An HDCAM deck is one thing, an HDCAM SR deck is another, no?

Good question.
Mostly, to save drive space. This project will be edited in house (off an XSAN) and on the road.
Also, frankly, I’d rather not rent an HDCAM SR deck for the length of this job. And man, are they complicated.

December 21, 2007 at 11:35 pm in reply to: Importing Error: “Unknown File” when trying to import AIFF fileIt sounds like the composer’s file is corrupt. Ask him or her to re-export and re-post. You might also ask for it to be posted in a couple other formats, say .wav or as a QT file just to help your troubleshooting.
if you’re not having trouble importing other aiff files, I don’t think there’s a problem on your end.

You are right to be concerned now, before you get injured. Ten years ago I had a pinched nerve in my neck and the beginnings of carpal tunnel syndrome. It was all very painful.
Here’s what I suggest (and helped me)
1. as mentioned above,get a WACOM tablet.
2. Lower your keyboard. VERY important. It should be lower than standard desk height (this is one reason keyboard drawers are made.).The higher the keyboard, the more your shoulders and neck hunch up. Lowering the keyboard relaxes those muscles, and opens up the vertebrae in your neck. This makes a huge difference because if the vertebre are squeezed together, a nerve that runs down your arm and through the carpal tunnel is pinched. It’s all connected.
3. Adjust your chair and monitor height for maximum comfort and back relaxation.
Good luck.

Were you able to get the demo to function properly? I can open the interface and play with the looks, but when I render a clip with the effect applied, I get the big red X, of course, but without any color effect applied at all.
Is this the way it’s supposed to work?

Don’t be confused. It’s pretty simple. The x800xt is a much better card. Go to barefeats.com and I think you’ll find some objective tests.
I have a g5, 2.0 ghz. Before I upgraded my card to the x800, it wouldn’t even let me open Color. Now it does. Motion does feel a lot faster, though I haven’t done enough Motion work to give you a precise idea of how much.
If you are not going to work much with Motion, Color, or the fxplug plug-ins in FCP, you don’t need the upgrade. But if you use these, it’s a good investment for sure.

It’s the Radeon x800xt — or something very similar. This was out of production for a long time but seems to be on the market again. I just got one from B&H.
