c-mode is FCP does not work.

Workaround: highlight all the clips in your sequence. Drag them into a new bin. Then sort those clips, within the bin, in ascending TC order. Then select all the clips and drag them into a new sequence. That sequence will be in ascending TC order – cmode. A regular Amode list made from that sequence will be what you want.

Or… if you have an Avid near by…

Import the EDL into Avid’s “EDL Manager”, and use it to create a c-mode list.

    Michael –

Your c-mode workaround will give you a cut list, but it will not give you a useable EDL becuase while all the source clips have been sorted, all the record ins and outs are now inacurrate. I don’t see how you can assemble a finished show from your work-around list.

    Herb

You would have to use both EDL’s Use the C mode for film to tape transfer, which is what you usually use them for, then use the A mode for the edit.

You could also just generate a batch list from your bin for the Filme to tape.

(maybe I am nuts but any linear edit controller worth its salt could re sort the list for A, B, or C, mode. Heck I think axial could do D mode, which was a mix of B and C)

    hope this helps

    Herb:

You are right, of course. My method would not provide a good list for online, but would be perfect for film transfer, which is what the original post was about.

    Sorry guys.

C Mode absolutely exists in final cut, and has done for years.

Any time any editor works with film that is one lit and then subsequently graded, the editor will need to supply a roll order EDL.

When you choose File>Export>EDL, in the dialog box choose your Sorting to be Source rather than Master. This will order your EDL in Source (ie Roll) order.

I love Avid too, but you don’t need EDL Manager as a workaround.

    Tom.
