Avoiding Tunnel Carpal Syndrome and RSI
Greetings!
I am professional editor who spends anywhere from 6-8 hours a day in front of a computer. I am 26 years old. Currently I have no health related problems. I have been thinking to the future and wondering what I can do now to avoid Tunnel Carpal Syndrome, and Repetitive Stress Injuries.
I try and sit as straight as possible, and I shift my positions from time to time. If I get tired I get up and walk around, stretch, and maybe get something to drink. (non alcoholic of course!) I am “in LOVE” with shortcuts and use them extensively in all programs that I use. Frequently I will edit in one suite, set it up to render and then bounce to another suite to work on graphics or another project. Then I will bounce back to the first suite and continue working. So I am not stuck in the same suite unless I am editing with a client for the day.
I found a previous post from the cow with great links here:https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/877063
It was very helpful. What are other professional full time editors currently doing to prevent health related issues from posture and repetive movements?
I was thinking about buying a new chair. I sat in this chair years ago, and despite it’s odd appearance it is VERY comfortable because it forces you to sit straight.
And I’m looking at possibly getting a new editing desk…but I havn’t been experiencing problems. Is anyone using the Aeron Chairs?

Any thoughts pertaining to this topic would be greatly appreciative. I am more than willing to learn lessons from others who have been there. Thanks for you time!
