  • A brief update for all of you keeping score.

I deleted every single purchased Boris plugin and finally, FCP is smooth as butter.

I have no idea what is up with those plugins that act like Kryptonite on my machine.

    The only downside?
I’m going to want to use the very good BCC Chroma Key plug-in at some stage. When I reloaded it turned the startup to FCP, so if anyone knows how I can get this FxPlug to play nice with the rest of my system it would be a great help [Boris support have not been too helpful].

    Thanks,
    Wayne

We archive everything to Unobtanium Holographic Reels.

    Works great.

    Hi Shane,

    Touche – you are right.

Sorry to have driven you so nuts 😉

As I said, I knew I couldn’t edit with H.264, but I didn’t realize H.264 was so toxic as to not be able to open sequences synced with Plural Eyes so that I could go in there and reconnect the clips to ProRes.

Alas, the errors of my ways.

    Thanks again,

    Wayne

    Hi Shane,

Thanks so much for taking the time.

    I think you’ve nailed it.

I’ve got a fortune of shoot material that was taking forever to transcode to ProRes – so in the meantime, I was doing the Pluraleyes sync with the H.264 footage.

I knew you couldn’t edit with H.264 but I didn’t think it would kill the system the way it has been doing.

I’ve run a test where I’m now working with only the reconnected ProRes files and now FCP seems a lot more stable.

    Thanks again,

    Wayne

Thanks for the valuable feedback Gents, much appreciated.

By the time I had come onto the project, quite a bit of material had already been shot at 24P, so we kept the frame rate the same with the others.

Your points [and admonishments] are well taken.

    Thanks,

    PS – forgot to add:

    1. Broadcast delivery in the United States [NTSC-land]
    2. Final delivery in SD [Digibeta]

    Thanks,

You can maybe try batch process them in Compressor or MPEGStreamclip with the -xdb variable.

  • David,
Michael Sacci above referenced me your upgrading article, but for the life of me I can’t find it on the pasture.

Can you or anyone else direct me to said article.

    Thanks,

    Wayne
