Over and above everyting else, might I suggest deleting ALL your render files and re-rendering your project afresh.

It could be that ‘old’ and unused render files could [also] be making the system sluggish.

Also, make sure you’re not running Anti-Virus software on the system, at the time as FCP.

They say you should make sure you view your video on an actual NTSC monitor, too.

That notwithstanding, there are known issues with FCP text.
