Re: the google ad: I was discussing it with friends, and we cannot decide if it was CG or if it was screen captured. What is your take?

I feel it was all (or mostly) generated, because some of the “close-ups” looked pretttty crisp.

    Best:

-Google. Simply brilliant. I watched the game with my girlfriend and her room-mates, and it made a few of them actually cry! It must have been pretty cheap to produce, too.

-Dodge Charger. It made me want to man-up and buy a Charger and go drive illegally fast.

-The Bud Light Auto-tune. Pretty funny. Would not be caught dead buying bud light, but it was clever.

-Brett Favre Hundai spot. I love the guy, and being a Vikings fan, I appreciate the fact that he can constantly poke fun at himself, with the Sears ads, now this one.

-Kia commercial with the toys in Vegas. Sock monkeys gets me every time.

-Audi Green police. -HILARIOUS, yet terrifying. I am not sure I understand their angle with it. Mocking the “green movement”, then trying to sell a “green” car… Regardless, its funny.

    The worst:

    -All of the Doritos commercials.

    -Godaddy commercials.

-All of the spots with guys in underwear.

-The E-trade commercials. Was funny. Not anymore.

I am not claiming to be on anywhere near the same level as you guys, but I really am embarrassed, and should have caught it immediately.

    PERIAN.

I did not have perian installed. I completely forgot I was working on my work computer, which did not have the Perian component installed.

Thanks for the ideas again, though!

    Thanks for the idea!

In response- I completely meant to specify in my original thread, but it has a .avi extension.

I doubt they are damaged, because I pulled them straight off the camera.

I will give that program a shot, and thanks again!

That is pretty much what I do for my company. I do not really have a “Title” per say, but my boss always introduces me as our “Resident Videologist”, “Doctor of Videology”, etc… Always gets a good laugh from everyone.

Duh. Why wouldn’t I do it in AE?

    Thanks guys!

Yes. I am making a comp in AE of a tv and needed to make a video in FCP a custom size to fit the tv screen. I could have sworn that I was editing just fine in this custom size and able to use the unlimited RT playback, then it seems like all of a sudden I need to render everything…

    I may be mistaken though.

September 14, 2009 at 4:01 pm in reply to: merge two text overlay layers without losing effect?

I use a work-around method to accomplish this. I know that merging layers makes effects go all wonky so I figured out this method…

I make a new empty layer, then make all other layers, except for the empty layer and the layer you wish to be rasterized invisible. Then I do “merge all visible”. Then repeat. You lose the ability to change the effects, but it might work for what you are trying to do.

They are different though. I don’t think a full frame should be compared to a cropped sensor.

I am more interested in the 50D vs 7D.

And boy, 18 megapixels is ALOT.
