Sorry, one more quick question- How do I “hold” the expression? I am entirely new to using expressions. I tried putting a “toggle hold keyframe” at the point where I want the “bobbing” to pause for a bit, but it did nothing…

Thank you, this is perfect! I added this to the camera layers position than have a null as the camera parent to do the actual moving around.
Thanks again!!

Thanks for the tips. Using the custom views was exactly what I was looking for!

Never mind. I had to select the desired layer. Silly me!
This clears everything up though, thanks for the help Dave!

Ok, when I turn the graph editor on there are no keyframes? I have done all the keyframing by “transforming” the camera. Is this incorrect?
Thanks again!

THANKS! That was very helpful, but it almost defeats what am trying to do. I have multiple different “scenes” layed out on a big common background canvas, with the camera flying to each of them, slowly zooming in or panning or zooming out, then swooping off to the next one. When I HOLD the keyframe, it ceases all movement until the next set of keyframes, where the camera moves on to the next destination.

Mike, I think you got it wrong.
I believe this was totally unsolicited. The prospective (Alec Brownstein) made up adword campaigns (one for each CD of the firms he wanted to work at), counting on the fact that people like to google themselves from time to time.
When the time came that the CD googled himself, he saw the personalized job request from Alec.
Alec essentially posted an ad for a Creative Director, not for himself. I wonder how long the ads were up before he got the first email?
Sheeeeer genius.

Super easy!
Assuming you are in CS4-
Window>Animations to open your animation palette
Make sure the “Animation” tab is open, not the “measurement” tab.
Hit the new piece of paper looking button in the animations palette to duplicate your current frame. This creates a copy of your “canvas” for the next frame. From here, you can change your layers and everything without affecting your previous frames.Play around with it, its probably the easiest way to animate things, granted, the results can look pretty terrible if you are trying to keep it under 50KB for banners/
