[Graeme Nattress] “Their codec is just a PhotoJPEG, but their own version”
i know, but with realtime at full resolution.

wow, i didn’t know about the dc30 codec. since it works as transcoding codec too without a dc30 installed why do we need pjpg? this will from now on be my offline codec of choice. i think i even have an old dc30 in a pc somewhere that i could try to install…

[Graeme Nattress] “Apple have not RT enabled PhotoJPEG codec beyon 35% and small frame sizes for it’s Offlilne RT modes”
i’ve been thinking about that. isn’t that something that could easily be hacked? seems like it would just be a flag somewhere, or is it a real limitation in the software? i guess the 35% could be because above that the codec switches from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 or something, but the frame size? surely that’s only a matter of the processor speed.

hey,
i’m the author of that filter. any field processing filters have to be applied *after* any scaling and moving around has been done, which is not the order in which fcp normally renders effects. what you need to do is nest your clip with all the motion appled and apply “blend fields” or “reduce interlace flicker” to the nest. the reason a vertical blur works to apply even before motion is because it acts as a more agressive low pass filter, removing any vertical frequencies that might cause flicker and moir

[Shane Ross] “Or simply firewire out to your camera, then RCA (or s-video) from the camera to the TV.
don’t you need a pal camera for that? i have a pal camera and it doesn’t output ntsc.
Dazzle? Avoid the Dazzle.”
i said “like” the dazzle, and you’re probably right. i’ve used one and it worked, plus it’s cheap, that’s all.

is it dv? if so a firewire dv converter like the dazzle hollywood dv bridge is what you need. useful even for ntsc work when you need to use your deck or camera for something else. and you need a pal monitor too of course, but i assume you can easily rent those.

that would apply to those who create software to do it, not those who point out where this software can be found. of course i’m not a lawyer and i’m in a country where it’s actually not illegal (yet), so what do i know. 🙂

technically? no. but hey, we all know how it works. i assume the cow has some kind of policy to not support piracy in any form though, so do whatever you like but don’t expect people here to help you break the law.

June 11, 2005 at 1:22 pm in reply to: downloaded music from itunes, how convert so i can import into fcp?i think you’re confusing broadcast license with sync rights. you don’t need a broadcast license in sweden either but you certainly still need the sync rights. some large productions companies, usually that are also broadcasters, negotiate annual sync rights with the copyright bureau too so if you work for one of those you’re fine but if you don’t…
i’m not 100% sure how it is in france, but after what you’ve told us and what i’ve heard from others it would *really* surprise me if it isn’t very similar to here.

i’m glad to hear that you like them. i think i’ll find some use for them myself. i’ve often felt limited by the three way corrector which really only works well for very subtle corrections. if you want to remove or add even the slightest tint it’s quite hard.
i’ve been making plugins since 2000. i think i was number three to release something, after eureka and joe. 😉 i used to work in edvertising as a web designer and java programmer, with filmmaking as a hobby. then one day i decided to switch them so i started working as a filmmaker and kept the computer stuff as a hobby, in the form of fcp plugin development.
