I need to find out how to see pal project on tv. What card do I need to export from my computer to monitor? I’d like not to spend much money since I need to do this infrequently.

is it dv? if so a firewire dv converter like the dazzle hollywood dv bridge is what you need. useful even for ntsc work when you need to use your deck or camera for something else. and you need a pal monitor too of course, but i assume you can easily rent those.

Or simply firewire out to your camera, then RCA (or s-video) from the camera to the TV. No additional equipment needed. And no wear and tear on the camera either.

Dazzle? Avoid the Dazzle. If you want a dedicated converter, get the ADVC-100 by Canopus. That is the gold standard of DV converters, and it is cheap. $265.

But as I said, no additional hardware is needed. Just your camera as the piece of equipment between your computer and TV.

Thanks for your response. I am in the states and do not have a pal camera here to go from computer to camera to tv. Is canopus a card to put into computer with s-video out to tv/pal.

    thanks

    Hi,

Connect the Canopus ADVC-110 via FW to your Mac and connect a Monitor or TV that plays PAL to the Canopus via Y/C or (cringe) composite.

    https://www.canopus.us/US/products/ADVC110/pm_advc110.asp

Its compatible with both NTSC and PAL:

don’t you need a pal camera for that? i have a pal camera and it doesn’t output ntsc.

    Dazzle? Avoid the Dazzle.”

i said “like” the dazzle, and you’re probably right. i’ve used one and it worked, plus it’s cheap, that’s all.
