I was using VTR Xchange to get the RP-188 TC over HD-SDI from a camera’s output.

Update: I’ve found a workaround for my audio mixer issue using HD footage @59.94 fps: If I set the RT playback rate to half, I can use the audio mixer without any problems.

Another editor here is experiencing the same issue (different Mac Pro, different RAID set, different footage) and tried the FCP 6.0.6 update but the problem remains. I had to re-install the Final Cut Studio earlier this week and am still having the same issue. Other than this audio mixer problem, the Mac Pro appears to be solid.

    I must be missing something…

  • Pull the Color correction tab out to a seperate window on your screen (so you can see the CC wheels and the Viewer window) Then you will get real-time feedback on your external monitor

Have you tried nesting the frames? (Highlight the frames in the sequence and then chose Nest from the Sequence menu I think)

Then, to resize, etc you will need to drag the nested sequence from the timeline into the Viewer window and click the motion tab.

Try this: Highlight the clip in the bin, right click and “Duplicate as new master clip”. Then highlight just the new master clip, right click and “Make Media Offline”. Choose to “Leave the media on disk”. Click OK. Highlight the offline clip, right click and choose “Clip Settings”. Deselect the video option (or make it audio only, I can’t remember the exact wording on that one) choose how many audio tracks you need and click ok. Do that to as many clips as you need to and then batch capture. You should get new media files with just audio in them.

Talked to one of the guys at Noise, very helpful but we determined that was not the issue.

I think a re-install is the next step when I get the time. I’m getting the same error with just an AIFF in the timeline, so something is not right. Also, when I pull the faders up, the rubber bands in the timeline go down? That is a new one.

Did they release a new version that fixes it? I haven’t had a chance to check this out, but I hope you are right about the fix.

April 24, 2009 at 6:49 pm in reply to: Default Number of Audio Channels

I do it through the browser: Typically when I capture, I log all the clips on the tape and then do a batch. Before I do a batch capture though, I select all the clips in the browser that I have logged and right-click. One of the options in the menu is Clip Settings (or something like that). If you select that, you can set all of your clips to have less than 16 channels of audio.

If you are looking for a sure fire way to get rid of it, try this: Digitize the footage and then crop off the CC info in FCP. You will be able to see it in the very top of the frame, it is the little white rectangles that go on and off.
