Recapturing audio only
Posted by Steven Townsend on June 16, 2009 at 2:02 pmHi all,
I’m trying to recapturing some audio only, but every time I highlight the clips to recaptured and hit ‘capture’ FCP tries to capture the video as well. How can I prevent this from happening?
Thnaks in advance

June 16, 2009 at 3:50 pmTry this: Highlight the clip in the bin, right click and “Duplicate as new master clip”. Then highlight just the new master clip, right click and “Make Media Offline”. Choose to “Leave the media on disk”. Click OK. Highlight the offline clip, right click and choose “Clip Settings”. Deselect the video option (or make it audio only, I can’t remember the exact wording on that one) choose how many audio tracks you need and click ok. Do that to as many clips as you need to and then batch capture. You should get new media files with just audio in them.

June 16, 2009 at 5:32 pmYou can also set the user prefs to send audio and video to separate drives, then import the audio only.
If you have the Log and Capture window active, drag your clip from the Browser and drop it onto the window. This loads it for capture. Now you set different parameters for the capture such as deselecting video.

June 17, 2009 at 2:16 amThe easiest way is to open up Log & capture. Highlight the clips you want to recapture in your logging bin. Enable only the audio in the second tab. When you go to Batch Capture it will ask you if you want to use the logged clip settings. Uncheck the box to answer no. It should now capture only the audio tracks you have selected and not capture the video.
