Mirjam, you can preview the effect your filter settings will have by double clicking on the clip you want to affect. Click the filter tab in the *Viewer* pane, adjust the sliders and you will see the changes in the *Canvas* pane. The playhead in the timeline must fall within the clip you want to preview. If it is not, simply slide it to the clip you’re working on and cast your glance at the Canvas.

It would be mind-bogglingly difficult to apply filters if you couldn’t see what you were doing!

Good luck with your project, Matth

I should mention for any latecoming newbies that if you’re seeing jaggies, or stairstepping it could be because you’re zooming in on vector art, rather than resizing it.

More importantly, make sure you’ve selected the object in the media tab of the project pane, then go to the media tab of the inspector and UNcheck “fixed resolution.”

  • Mark my man, I can’t thank you enough.

After reading your post, I got it working in about 3 seconds. Never occurred to me I should turn animate off!

  • How does one stop the number from incrementing once you’ve reached your target number?

The only solution I’ve found is to fake it by creating a separate instance of the arrival #.

  • I would love to hear if anyone has figured this out.

Logically it seems one should be able to set a keyframe on the animate checkbox, turning off “animate” at a certain key.

  • Andy, extremely cool tutorial.
Way over my head. But I still learned a lot. I’ve bookmarked your site to revisit it after I’ve learned a bit more of the basics…
