  • How to make the Numbers generator hold when it’s finished counting?

Posted by Gareth Randall on September 28, 2010 at 6:41 am

I was playing around with the Numbers generator for the first time last night. Am I correct in thinking that there’s no way within the generator to make it count to a certain number and then hold that number? So, say, count from 1 to 1000 in 5 seconds and then hold the number 1000 on-screen for another 3 seconds?

I worked around it by duplicating the generator (so it kept the same font attributes), butting the duplicate up to the end of the original, turning off the animation and entering 1000 into the Value field, but I just wondered if there’s supposed to be a way of achieving the same effect within a single instance of the generator.

I would love to hear if anyone has figured this out.

Logically it seems one should be able to set a keyframe on the animate checkbox, turning off “animate” at a certain key.

Turn off the Animate checkbox and instead keyframe the starting and ending values you want.

Mark my man, I can’t thank you enough.

After reading your post, I got it working in about 3 seconds. Never occurred to me I should turn animate off!

Yeah, pretty strange to turn OFF animation in order to – create animation!
