Did you try applying the tracking data to a null? If you do that, then you can parent your explosion layer to the null, and it will follow the motion of the camera.

    Try using easy ease

Or you can also select the keyframe, right click it and change the interpolation settings.

  • If you notice in those examples, the glass shatters first, then falls apart. if you maybe had a bullet hole in the glass, and animate some cracks coming out of it, then apply the shatter effect with bigger pieces, it would look more realistic.

I don’t believe you can. One suggestion I have is that you make a pre-comp with the grain effect added, then change the size of the composition in the settings to make it twice or three times as big. That way, AE would render a bigger version of it, giving you more clarity when zoomed in.

I think it was probably something similar to 3D Stroke. I know Andrew Kramer has some tutorials on creating 3D Titles on his Video Copilot page and I know there is a tutorial in the Evolution Motion Graphics pack that talks about creating such animations in AE. I think that combined with 3D stroke could accomplish what you are looking for.

Its duplicating the layer and adjusting so it is just black and white with a gray. Then use it as a luma matte or alpha for the bottom instance, then the soldiers would be effectively “keyed” out allowing anything to be placed behind them.

Check video copilot.net’s advanced sky replacement tutorial for further reference

Would it also have been possible to do a procedural matte since they are dark against a brighter background instead of masking by hand?

Never tried, but it seems like it might have been an option.

That’s really professional. I also like seeing AK’s Evolution stuff. That guy is amazing. I do agree with the other comments that the office scene should have been left out. Other than that, I can tell you know your stuff.

  • AK has a tutorial on Video Copilot.net… plus check any of the tuts on making animated volume meters and just apply accordingly.
