Hey no worries, that was excellent help. I wasn’t even sure where to get started. I had figured as much on question 1 but am still curious, DVDA doesn’t have a setting to change the default duration of a jpg image? It seems to be really short as my FBI warning is only a JPG.

I had thought about rendering it to video in vegas and then porting it over but didn’t want to have to go to that trouble if I didn’t need to.

I’m a goofball. After burning a half dozen DVD’s or so I realized that for some reason Sony Vegas (or perhaps I) had normalized some clips at the wrong level. It was over driving them by 7 or 8 dB. Once I removed the normalization it burnt and plays perfectly off the DVD.

I’m curious though, not sure what DVDA is. I did a quick google, it’s an audio codec. I couldn’t find it in the codec drop down for vegas renders. Here’s what I’m currently using and it seems to work nicely…

Video (Mpeg2) Template (DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen)
Audio (Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio) Template (Stereo DVD)

Curious what the DVDA stuff is.

I appreciate all the help. I never did figure out what it was other than it was something with the .veg file itself. After deleting all the .sk* (render files?) it dawned on me I should just copy and past the entire timeline into a new project / .veg file.

After that I had to of course redo all my Video FX and filters but it worked fine. I honestly cannot say how much I appreciate all this help. I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing without it.

Sony vegas just locks up and becomes completely no-responsive. I tried letting it sit and waiting it out. Let it sit for about 20 minutes and still nothing. The hard drive doesn’t even light up much.

When I check task manager it says not responding. I may try doing the same operation on my more powerful computer with another install of vegas to see what happens.

Yeah when I open the child veg file it opens perfectly. I can render from the child and audio come through.

However, when in the timeline for the parent the audio for the interview clips doesn’t come through. And when I render the parent the audio for the interviews isn’t there either.

It’s weird. Is there some way I can reconstruct the project meta data? Is it possible something got corrupted in the parent veg file?

I’ve tried removing and re-inserting the child veg but no luck.

Use compositing. Do you have pro? If you do then there’s some additional options for compositing which might allow you to pan and crop a planet just such that it will replace the old planet at beginning of the video.

Otherwise you’d need to look into some sort of effects rendering.

Yeah I’m doing this but it’s still leaving me with a letterbox at the top 🙁

I tried calculating the aspect ratio as well and doing it that way but despite my best efforts I constantly get a letterbox.

Is there a different pixel spacing with images versus video or something I’m not factoring in here?

How do you consistently get a good fit of the images to the video when compositing?

Are you simply using the cropping feature?

Hey greatly appreciated! I just purchased Sony Vegas Pro along with the seminar series tutorials.

I’ve been very happy with the tool-set. Will have to look into Boris, if Pro won’t do what I’m looking for. I have some visuals of the foot I need to do some sort of graphical motion overlay on. I may be able to limp buy with just pro for now.

I could defiantly see effects coming in handy in the future though so it’s nice to know the Sony platform has a solution like AE.
