I’ve been sitting here for a couple hours trying to figure this out. Seems I’m having little luck.

I’ve got a veg file / project I created that opens perfectly no missing files or anything.

However, when I go to embed the veg in a new project it crashes the new project. I’ve tried embedding other veg’s in the same project with no difficulty.

I’ve even went so far as to delete all the .sk* files and .bak files. Then have vegas regenerate them. No luck. Still won’t embed in parent project. Vegas just hangs.

I’m at a loss any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Why not just render out the problematic veg file
and then embed it in the new project.
If there is transparency in there that you want to
preserve, simply render out in the Quicktime png format.

How does the crash present itself?

Sony vegas just locks up and becomes completely no-responsive. I tried letting it sit and waiting it out. Let it sit for about 20 minutes and still nothing. The hard drive doesn’t even light up much.

When I check task manager it says not responding. I may try doing the same operation on my more powerful computer with another install of vegas to see what happens.

    THanks!!!

There is something in the main veg that the one you are trying to nest it in doesn’t like. Could be a plugin maybe? There are some bugs in nesting that I can’t figure out. One thing you could try is to select all events on the main veg and paste it into a new project. Then nest that new project. This sometimes clears up unknown problems with events in projects.

I appreciate all the help. I never did figure out what it was other than it was something with the .veg file itself. After deleting all the .sk* (render files?) it dawned on me I should just copy and past the entire timeline into a new project / .veg file.

After that I had to of course redo all my Video FX and filters but it worked fine. I honestly cannot say how much I appreciate all this help. I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing without it.

    Thanks again!
