[Jeremy Garchow] “This is almost an oxymoron! :)”

The kernel panic is the computer’s fault…not FCP X’s. I just had one a second ago in FCP lost a little bit of work. Got a problem on the logic board and the company isn’t sure if they want to get it replaced since this machine most likley won’t be needed past august.

I meant that it’s pretty nice that even when you have a kernal panic, you still don’t lose any work.

Yeah, i’ve had a couple crashes and a kernal panic, and didn’t lose anything. It’s super nice in that way.

[Eben Abbaan] ” FCP X can read the directory structure (allegedly) of cameras that shoot AVCHD video to SD cards, and allow us to import clips (or parts of clips) via File —> Import From Camera.”

Yeah, and I could swear I looked it up on some compatablity chart somewhere, and 5D was on there. But it couln’t load the file directory properly.

    How did you do this?

DSLR media will need to be read via the ” file import” or if the card was imaged properly (ie-disc image) you should be able to open see the image on the desktop via the Open Archive at the bottom of the camera import window.”

Not sure I’m following your question? Are you asking how I got the error? or how I got the media in?

I assumed I wouldn’t need to load it as a camera archive,so I tried that, and got a directory error. It loads fine via FCP 7’s log/transfer, so I knew the directory was fine.

I tried a couple other thing sand just couldn’t get it to work. Then I went ahead and tried just tried import file and went to the DCIM folder. and that worked for importing the media.

Got it. You don’t load 5D as a camera archive…you actually just import and go into the DCIM folder

    [Scott Sheriff] “Matt,
Fanboy seems very inflammatory to many, and is starting to get overused, so I was just trying to switch it up and think of something clever!
It’s all in good fun and just some teasing. I’m a huge fanboy of that Japanese car and motorcycle maker that starts with H, and will gladly admit it.
Wasn’t saying you’re one of the shills either, so I’m glad there’s no hard feelings.”

You should tradmare Apple Certified Apologistâ„¢ It really is clever. No worries. i have a good sense of humor and don’t take stuff too seriously.

Actually, I don’t want to accuse anyone of anything.”

Interesting, b/c I’m pretty sure you accused me of being one of the board’s “Apple Certified Apologists”. Which I thought was an awesome term as well as funny as hell. No hard feelings.

That’s been a pain in the butt..trying to “re”find things I’d found the other day. So many hidden things in the interface.
