    Hi!

Is it just me or is the new Time Remapping function somewhat useless?
I make videos where I usually edit to music and often use time remapping along with markers.

For one, you can’t add markers in real time which is AWFUL, but then the time remapping tool is really confusing and takes away the precision that the pen tool gave.
Also, Time Remapping displays only four segments to change the speed in, so if you want to change speed more than 4 times within a clip, you have to cut it so you can work separately on the other piece of the clip. This is so weird..

Has some one tried it yet? is there a better / more precise way?

    Thank you.

I for one am able to tap out markers in real-time with the M key.

That said, yes, the retiming tool is quite amateurish (and buggy, too, slowing down clips even it sais 100%). However, you can still use the old workflow where you cut the clips in several parts and retime precisely.

I have markers on the fly too..but they add to yoru primary storyline.

The whole retiming thing seems to be super limited. you only have a couple percentages to choose from, and there’s no re-time using a duration fill.

The contextual menu is only limited to the 4 time %’s. If you select the clip and press the Retiming Button in the tool bar, you are provided with a number of parameter adjustments. At first, I thought the same thing. Just need to explore a bit deeper. 🙂

Yes! Make sure to check optical flow on too! The slow motion is great!!

Spoke too soon. Just went back and now I can’t find it. I’ll get back with you.

Okay. Once you assign a time %, if you open the Time Remap editor, you can adjust the clip incrementally slower or faster to your liking. I swear I was just playing with the retiming key frames the first day, but can’t find it. This is one thing that is frustrating me, but working with a re-imagined app is going to do that. The power is there, I just have to stop forgetting where I was when I used it. It’s like being in school again. 🙂

You were right. You can put markers in real time. I restarted the program and it worked.. for some reason the M shortcut wasn’t working.
    I’m a bit relieved.
    Thank you for your reply.

Crap, you’re right. Only 4 segments when remapping. I can’t find another way around this. Thought it was more editable. Off to the Feedback/Suggestion site. :-0

I’m confused? Click “retime” in your clip and you’ll see and orange bar appear above it, drag that orange bar out or in and you get all the ranges.

That’s been a pain in the butt..trying to “re”find things I’d found the other day. So many hidden things in the interface.
