that’s the whole point of keywords. You skim through your giant clip looking for what you want to use…and you do keyword ranges to pull selects/log the giant clip. I’d guess that’s why key ranges don’t stick. They didn’t expect you to keyword giant segments unless they were going to be used as giant segments.-mattyc

I just assumed use undo b/c I was thinking that sometimes you’d have to use the blade to cut parts of a clip that didn’t need to be on your xport. that was a couple undos would get you to your timeline.

Glad you attached a picture. or else I’d have been really confused b/c my timeline does not have in/out brackets…..neither does yours.
You are in a compound clip.
Compound clips can be used as a workaround for setting an In/Out for exporting from your timeline. Select your clips compound them. open the compound clip the export…then hit undo till your compound clip is gone.

Want to try something fun? Drop a clip on the timeline. Use the Position tool to move it – let’s say 10 seconds on the timeline. Because maybe, just maybe, you want 10 seconds of black at the head of your show. Done that? Good. Now let’s say you want to put a 1-second fade-up from black at the head of your clip. Click on the head of the clip and type command-T on the keyboard. Watch what happens. Can anyone explain WTF the thinking is here? Totally wrong behavior. Total UI FAIL.

Not a UI fail.. a U fail/Default preference fail. Go into the preferences under editing and select apply transitions using “available media” rather than “full overlap”. This will keep transitions from rippling.
This just illustrates a point that people who’ve already decided to hate FCPX totally give up once they’ve hit a wall and something doesn’t work like “it should”. Then they just claim that it doesn’t work, rather than trying to figure it out.

I’ve found that the issues come when anything else is open in the background, in my case that’s been Safari. No Safari, no problems or none that I’ve noticed. Safari plus Motion 5 leads to rapid meltdown via extreme lagginess.”
I was having GUI interruptions jumping between FCPX and Firefox. When I don’t have anything else running, I dont’ seem to have as many problems…it might lag where I think it’s gonna crash but then it kicks back in

yeah, i’m trying not to do that. Trying to get your system to work like FCP 7 seems like a sort of crutch. I’m sure if you want to get really fast at editing, you can’t try the old methods, you have to adopt the new ways of doing things.

Jeremy, Apparently you haven’t done enough reading in the other FCPX forum. FCP is not a Pro App. So they don’t have opacity…..or keyframes…..or emoticons.
