As said above. Apply particular to a 2D layer. Then move the emitter in Z space via the Z position in particular not the AE comp.

Film yourself urinating through a screen door. Shoot that against blue screen. Once keyed desaturate the pee pee so its white. Boom!!!! Rain. You can also make your urine white by drinking enough water.

You may want to have a bunch of jellybeans explode out of the sword. Then just as it’s forming. Hide everything behind lensflares. Then have numbers fly out of his eyes as a deer jumps him like a hurdle. This will distract people from noticing the cheesy effect you are doing.

Get the set of plugs called “key correct” red giant product I think. It has light wrap. And is way cheaper than sapphire.

Having done tons of these the answer is no.
A shot that shows before and after and all the steps in between is basically its own VFX shot.
