  • How to go about widening a river?

    Hi,

I was given a scene to do some post to and there are 2 tasks that I’m at a loss on what to do. I would appreciate any help you could offer.

Task 1: Remove a cow from the scene. I know I should rotoscope, but the camera is moving throughout the scene and I’m unsure how to rotoscope and make the scene look natural when it’s constantly moving.

Task 2: Widen the river. There is a river in the scene which needs to be widened to roughly twice its original size. Again, the camera is moving during this shot. What techniques should I be using or looking into in order to pull this shot off? Is this possible without the use of plug-ins?

    Thanks in advance!

Ask Moses. He did it with a sea… But I am sure the same principals apply.

Show us some screenshots so that we can better advise.

Depending on the scene, the Clone Stamp tool may be enough for the cow:

For the river, it may be as simple as duplicating the layer, moving one copy, drawing masks along the length of the river, and blending the two layers together.

well, tracking the shot and then applying the tracking data to your roto shape is what i would do to deal with the camera movement, if theres parallax i would just do a 3d camera track and projection, google about those techniques and i bet you will find your answer

    Thanks for your help!
