Thanks Jeff, there are only about 6 tracks. Most of the keyframing is on just one of the tracks. I didn’t think you could copy keyframes from Vegas 10 to 9. Is that what you are thinking? I know how to copy between open projects.

Someone also suggested convert AVCHD to XDCAM HD422 MXF before editing. It looks like there is a free open source app for doing that: ffmbc. This is new territory for me, but I’m wondering if that would be worth a try.

Thanks, Jeff. I’m reshooting because the green screen was too hot the first time around and I ended up with a green halo around the hair I couldn’t get rid of in Vegas. I just want to get it more near true green to avoid problems. I use two big cool flo soft boxes on the green screen and that lights it pretty evenly. I’ve had pretty good luck with Vegas’s chromakey, but sometimes I have to resort to Keylight in Aftereffects if the footage is giving me problems.

I’m sure there is some technical reason for this that can be fixed. You might try uninstalling and reinstalling. Do you have DVDA installed? The DVD option might require it be installed. I just remembered that I do have Vegas Production Assistant installed and it *might* be part of that. You could call or email Sony Media customer service if you can’t get it to show up.

You must not have Vegas 9. In Vegas 9, DVD is an option under Tools>Burn Disc

You can capture footage, put it on the Vegas timeline and burn a single play DVD (no menu – it just starts playing when loaded) right from there.

Jon,
It’s a camera setting, in the menus. I don’t have the camera in front of me but it’s the menu where you have a choice between DV HDV or Auto. Change it from Auto to HDV.

When I started this thread, I was editing on a Mac Pro using Windows XP via Boot Camp. I ‘m on a real PC now with Windows 7 and have fewer connection problems.

in case anyone else has this problem, my solution was to remove all versions of Vegas and reinstall 32bit Vegas 9.0c.
