Thanks Craig – yes, I am quite likely misunderstanding quite a few things at this stage, so thanks for bearing with me.

I had noticed on their FAQs that it says:
‘You can happily overcrank up to 720p/48 fps, but will not work at 720p/50-60 fps.’

……. so I got confused at this point. So I think that overcranking is causing the confusion here ……… please excuse my ignorance on this!

Thanks for your thoughts – it is comforting to think that this was (hopefully!) quite a rare occurance.

I am of the reformatting rather than deletion school. Still early days on the Ex3 for me, but it makes sense to wipe the card clean each time as I have seen on stills cameras that bits of data can be strewn around a card eventually causing access errors.

I’ve been pretty lucky on the tape front over the past 12 years in business, so it all feels a bit lairy at the moment, and the experience the other day was a setback …… anyway, am encouraged by the experiences shared here.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Yes, I guesss I was lucky that the clip played back in the camera – I have played out via SDI and got it. However this is only the 2nd job with the EX3 having only just bought it, so am a little nervous now.

    Thanks for advice.

February 7, 2009 at 5:10 pm in reply to: AVC HD / .MTS files conversion problems

Thanks for the responses. MPEG Streamclip doesn’t recognize the files. Toast 10 does do the conversion, but there is a quality hit again.

Am just experimenting with a free program from Grass Valley called AVCHD2HQ – this is giving me an AVI which doesn’t have the colour pulsing, then outputting through Procoder. This seems to work and keeps the quality, although you can’t batch encode. But then you can’t have everything can you?!

  • Thanks Lee – you have just saved me pulling my hair out!!

November 22, 2007 at 1:37 pm in reply to: Export ‘Still Image’ broken in 6.0.2 (?)

    Found Workaround:

Export the graphic from FCP as a self contained movie (5secs or so). Then open in QuickTime Pro. Use the Export as Picture command. Works fine. Odd that this doesn’t work in FCP.

Well something to look at for 6.0.3 Apple!

    Cheers, Martin.

Thanks for advice – I have concocted something in Motiion and done an alternative based on the Livetype Comet. HOpefully they will like one of them. Thanks for the info on particleillusion – looks great.

  • Sorry – I wasn’t clear. The particular piece of music was played (by the orchestra and choir) a fraction slower than it was performed in the concert. I am trying to sync a really good short clip of the rehearsal footage to add to the (11 camera) live concert.

(Background) Doing this ‘inserting’ works well elsewhere – orchestra & choir in concert gear for rehearsal & lighting identical.

    Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice. Used Audacity in the end to slow it down by 0.041% and export to 48K 16bit AIFF. Has done the trick perfectly without altering pitch or anything.

    Thank again.

Thanks Dave – I tried that first of all, but without success.
