  • Speed Increase 107% – Ghosting effect – Help please!

Posted by Martin Phillips on May 8, 2007 at 12:56 pm

I am just syncing up some concert footage with a quick clip taken during rehearsals. The rehearsal was taken a fraction slower, which shows up on Lip sync so I need to speed it up by 107%. I am getting a slight ghosting motion on the picture. This is the same doing it through ‘Modify’ and Time remap.

Any suggestions to clean this up? Thanks,

    Martin.

I don’t understand…. how is the footage shot slower?

Sorry – I wasn’t clear. The particular piece of music was played (by the orchestra and choir) a fraction slower than it was performed in the concert. I am trying to sync a really good short clip of the rehearsal footage to add to the (11 camera) live concert.

(Background) Doing this ‘inserting’ works well elsewhere – orchestra & choir in concert gear for rehearsal & lighting identical.

    Thanks!

I’d be prone to changing the playback speed of the audio instead. With Soundtrack Pro, you can do this without changing pitch…

The ghosting is most likely the result of frame blending interpolation due to the speed change. As was suggested in another response, it may be better to alter the audio speed instead.
