It’s possible to make a video only sequence by nesting only a video clip. So you could select all your video clips, then choose Sequence > Nest Items to make a new sequence. Double-click the new sequence and you’ll see there’s no audio track in sight.

I’ll stick my neck out here and predict that Color will get integrated into FCP. Maybe not for v7 but at some point in the future.
Having Color as a separate app raises many workflow issues whereas integrating it with FCP’s editing and effects tools would bring many benefits.

You’re working in PAL and unfortunately because of this crazy thing that DV codecs are Lower (Even) field order and other codecs are Upper (Odd) field order (but with the same 720×576 frame size), mixing the two often turns into the nightmare you’re describing.
Rendering out of AE as Lower (Even) is fine but when you import to FCP, it will *always* assume that a 720×576 non-DV codec clip is Upper (Odd). There is no way to change this setting, so with every clip you’ll have to manually change the Field order to Lower (Even) after importing it and preferably BEFORE adding to a sequence.
If you’re putting the AE clip in a DV50 sequence then you’re aiming to have the clip set to Lower (Even) – Command-9 to check it – with no shift field filter on the clip. That will give you the correct field order at the highest quality.

AFAIK the previous marker numbers are stored with the clip, even if you close and reopen the project, so there’s no easy way to do what you want. Most people want to rename markers anyway so it’s not a problem.
If you haven’t used the clip for editing yet, you could delete the clip in the Browser and reimport the original media file to reset the automatic marker count.

My understanding is that imported RGB media is affected by the gamma setting in User Preferences > Editing > Imported Still/RGB Video Gamma.
If you haven’t already, you might want to change it from the default setting of “Source” and run some tests again.

Yes, right-click in the track patching area and choose “Reset Panel” from the menu. This is the only place the function exists. It doesn’t show up in the list of commands so can’t be mapped to the keyboard.
