The question is a rhetorical one. The FCP project file format is private to Apple and not open to third parties. Only a handful of Apple employees will know the answer and they can’t talk.

Not possible. Export the sequence as a new clip, then reimport it and make multiclips out of that.

Paul, are you saying that this is what Adobe have under the hood of CS4 today?
I’ve been saying for years that there needs to be a fundamental rethinking about the way that our tools handle media. Everything we do is media on a timeline whether it be a graphics, audio or editing application and we’ve reached the point where pretty much anything is possible in only software.
So it makes perfect sense to put a common timeline at the heart of the apps and have modules that can access that timeline and make changes to it. Essentially you end up bringing the tools to the timeline rather than the other way round, and that opens up some very interesting possibilities…plus some big challenges of how you keep track of everything.

Sounds like your Viewer is a different size to the Canvas.
The Trim Edit window makes both viewers match the current size of the Canvas and it opens from the top left of where the Viewer window is on your screen. So if your Canvas window is bigger than the Viewer window, it will probably go between the two screens.

Alan
I’ve been playing around with this but can’t get this to work (unless I’m misunderstanding something).
There’s 4 cameras in the multiclip and the edit is completed on the timeline. If I drag a saved CC setting to a clip on the timeline then I get the “Apply to Source” or “Apply to Multiclip” overlay but no matter which one I choose, the filter only gets applied to that particular clip and not all the clips that use that angle.

As Jeremy says, Loader won’t add files automatically.
What Brian wants isn’t possible at the moment with FCP because you can’t use XML to add new items to an existing bin in the project. That’s why Loader creates a new bin for every import.

AFAIK there’s no way to have FCP set the anamorphic flag based on a PNG file. I would be inclined to make the graphics as square pixels.

No that’s not possible in FCP. However…if you put the Canvas zoom to 100% then you will see both fields so you’ll see any flashes.
