  • Advice using photo jpeg clips in DV Pal sequence

Posted by Jimi Lund on December 8, 2008 at 9:16 pm

I have been given some Photo Jpeg clips to use in a DV Pal sequence.

The JPeg clips are upper field and the DV sequence is lower field.

I’ve never used Photo JPeg clips before and was wondering what the best move is with regards to using them in the sequence?

I was wondering if it would be ok to convert them in Compressor to DV Pal lower field. Would this pose any problems?

My final output will be to DVD.

    Many thanks.

No need to convert them. Just drop the PJPEG clips into the sequence and FCP should notice the different field order and add a Shift Fields filter to correct it.

I tried this, knowing that the shift fields filter would be added.
It hasn’t done a very good job however and having done some reading on here, it generally doesn’t seem to do so.

Still thinking it’s probably better to remedy this in Compressor before bringing it into FCP. Anyone agree?
