There were changes to the way mono/stereo audio is captured between v4.5 and v5. If you’re using v4.5 to play clips originally captured in v5 then that’s likely the reason.

There’s a plug-in called ReelSmart Motion Blur which should do what you want:

Set the scale of the clip to 133.33% in the Motion tab and it will be full height with the sides cropped off.

September 20, 2006 at 6:32 pm in reply to: Anamorphic DV

Depends where you are. Here in the UK anamorphic delivery for broadcast has been the standard for around the last 10 years and a letterboxed version would be rejected.

September 20, 2006 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Automating clip selection in viewer

    – Press i key to mark in
    – Press Tab key
    – Enter “3.” and hit return key

That will give you a marked duration of 3 secs. It isn’t possible to use the F9, F10 etc KB shortcuts from secondary viewers.

If you really are doing this hundreds of times then you could always look into using a macro program:

September 16, 2006 at 9:53 am in reply to: FCP project to Avid symphony: weird AE credit roll

    Ashley

This is almost certainly caused by importing a DV (720×480) file into a 720×486 sequence and the field mushing that is happening as a result.

Go back to AE, change the comp setting to 720×486 and render out again as Animation codec at Millions+. Not sure whether you really went through DV codec before but it’s not a good idea if you’re going to an uncompressed Symphony.

In Motion’s built-in templates, just delete the layer called “Background- Replace Here”.

To check, you can choose View > Channels > Alpha and you should be seeing black outside the motion objects.
