Hi, I’m having trouble importing an XML of a 5.1.1 project into the 4.5 that I have. Using XML version 1, I can open the XML file and select my options, but I’m left with no audio on any of the audio tracks (where there had been two stereo pairs for 4 tracks total), one video track (which made the transition), and diagonal red slashes over all the master clips in the project bin. The translation error messages it gives me are:

XML defines two clips overlapping on a track. Unsupported sequence edit.( line 3 )
Unable to attach specified media file to new clip

and yet when I doubleclick on any master clip, there is sync audio present since it plays back with the video file.

    any suggestions?

    Kyle

There were changes to the way mono/stereo audio is captured between v4.5 and v5. If you’re using v4.5 to play clips originally captured in v5 then that’s likely the reason.

Yes. Martin is correct. FCP 4.5 did not support multi-channel audio capture (more than two channels). There is no easy fix for this other than to upgrade to FCP 5.x. Sorry.
