I’ve ordered the glossy version which should arrive by end of the week. I considered the whole matte vs glossy debate and read way more online opinions of matte to glossy converts than those who regretted the glossy decision. Where I usually work, the reflections shouldn’t be a problem and there’s no doubt that the glossy screens are significantly more vibrant.

Yes I’ve been here too and the thing that always confuses me is that if you drag layer A between B & C then the green plus gets shown on the mouse cursor but when you release the mouse it just moves the layer rather than copying it. The KB shortcuts are definitely an easier way to reordermuch easier. It’s a bit weird that “Bring Forward” never works on the second layer though and you have to use “Bring to Front” instead.

AFAIK I think the Match Frame > Source File has been there since v4 when the master/affiliate clips were introduced.

Yep I’ve been hanging on for the rev B MBP and put an order in today. Was very happy to see the 200GB HD option, now I’ll be able to install ALL of Final Cut Studio AND get rid of the PC I use for accounts. Looking forward to that extra power from a lowly G4 PB 1.67GHz…

No it’s more sophisticated than phase cancellation. Soundtrack Pro’s Noise Reduction like similar tools (e.g. Soundsoap) analyses the patterns of the sampled audio and then removes those matching patterns in the bad audio. The key thing is getting the balance right between removing the unwanted noise without affecting the stuff you want to keep.

October 10, 2006 at 7:12 pm in reply to: XML import problem with file extensions?

My guess is that this might be connected to whether the Finder preferences are set to show file extensions or not.

Finder > Preferences > Advanced tab > Show all file extensions

If the Mac is set to hide the extensions when you locate a file then it makes sense that an exact name match becomes impossible.

October 3, 2006 at 4:58 pm in reply to: PAL Field order DV to Uncomp 8 bit

Number 2 because SDI is always upper field for PAL. The deck handles changing the field order by shifting the image up one line so you should see a line of black at the bottom.

October 2, 2006 at 10:05 pm in reply to: simple problem: activate audio tracks in sequence

There is a situation where source audio tracks can get lost – if you’ve had it patched to a track which has since been deleted.

Either way, right-click on one of the track locks and choose “Reset Panel”. That will reset v1 to V1, a1 to A1 and a2 to A2.
