You can’t change the default. But you can modify a line, then drag it to the Shapes folder or the Favorites folder in the Library, and just drag it back in every time you need one.

Or, use a rectangle with fill and no outline and make it skinny.

However, if you plan to have “hundreds of lines” in a single project, I’d highly recommend you look at using a replicator or emitter or cloning.

I just create a new group, put a big white rectangle shape in it covering the full canvas, then add black shapes for the overlays. Then export this black and white image as a pict or jpg, and then turn off the group so that it won’t show up in the actual menu. Import both the Motion project file and the image into DVDSP – apply the project file as the menu and the image as the overlay, then draw your buttons to expose the overlay (button highlights).

If you want to keyframe, then don’t use a behavior at all. Just keyframe the layer’s Rotation parameter.

Motion text objects are vector-based in that you can scale them as much as you’d like with no loss in quality. However you can’t manipulate them like shapes.

When you add an image sequence the playhead has to be on frame 1 otherwise you might get some strange behavior – that has been my experience.

You try putting everything in a group, cloning the group, turning off the group, and retiming the clone. Won’t always work with 3D projects.

Or, in FCP, just drop the HD template in an SD sequence. It will scale/letterbox automatically.

  • You might try the Spring simulation behavior to get started.

Can you give an example of a behavior acting “violently inconsistent”? I’ve never seen that.
