If it’s a screen grab then there’s nothing to decide – it is what it is.

Agreed, just wanted to make sure you had a workaround. Sounds like some sort of graphics card issue…not sure what you can do about it though, sorry.

The light streaks animate on with keyframes, that’s why using the write-on behavior won’t work with them. And you can adjust the timing, here’s how:

What if you render the shot out of Motion directly and drop that into FCP?

When you choose Save As Template, the project file, thumbnail image, preview movie, and all assets (if selected) get copied to user/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Templates to the folder with the theme name you select or create. If they aren’t in this location or the same path from Root, they won’t show up in the Template Browser in Motion or the Master Template Browser in FCP.

Just put the text layer in a 2D group at the top level. These groups aren’t affected by lights or cameras.

That tutorial was great for Motion 2 but if you have Motion 3 or 4 using a paint stroke and a write on behavior is much easier.

I’m covering a workflow that uses PF Hoe for tracking C4D for the CGI, and Motion for compositing in this free webinar on Tuesday, might be right up your alley:

Ah, makes sense given the size of your project. I’ve never been able to overwrite files, FWIW.

Why not just embed the Motion project directly in FCP? That way you don’t have to export anything, and any changes you make to the Motion project automatically update in FCP.
