You should definitely be able to pan the Canvas with the spacebar while drawing a shape and be able to keep adding points.

You can’t add more points after the end point of an open shape once you’ve created it. But you can add more intermediate points – option-click or double-click anywhere on the line. So you can drag your last point out of the way, then add more points before it.

Try trashing your preferences by holding down the Option and Command keys when you launch Motion.

Your background is probably set to transparent instead of Solid. Select the project in the layers list and go to project properties.

1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motionapp.LSSharedFileList.plist and com.apple.motionapp.plist and delete them.—
