You can open Motion 4 projects in Motion 5 – I haven’t tested Motion 3 but I suspect it would work fine.

I haven’t test this with FCP6/Motion 3 but it *should* work the same as with FCP7/Motion 4: when you install FCP X/Motion 5, your existing apps get moved to their own Final Cut Studio folder in the Applications folder. I’m sure installing Motion 5 won’t delete your old Motion 3.

Welcome to the forum. Layers won’t interact with each other in 3D because groups are 2D by default. Make the group a 3D group (select and choose 3D group from the Object menu) and your circles layers will interact with each other.

ProRes 422 does not support an alpha channel. Try ProRes 4444 or Animation, with colors set to Millions+.

Will what work? Can you buy it alone? Yes you can. You can’t roundtrip between FCP7 and Motion5, however.

Motion 4 or 5? Motion 5 is fully color managed and will interpret your tagged color profile – Motion 4 is not.

Works perfectly for me, I just tested it. Shows up as a shape in the File Browser in Motion 5.

Javier, the script generates a shape object, not a Motion project file. Try importing it into Motion 5.

I would just use the script in Motion 4, then bring the shape into Motion 5.
