importing jpgs to timeline looses colour quality..?
Hi I have a motion project heavy on HD photography, I was looking at the results and seeing that the photos came out with a loss of colour (everythings a bit paler) and the black regions have been lightened up considerably. At first I thought it was my compression settings that were the problem but then i noticed when I had an image open in photoshop and motion side by side that it actually looks different (washed out, lighter blacks, etc) in the canvas in motion, right after I’ve imported it… Is there a setting somewhere that I’m unaware of when importing large files to preserve 100% quality?

Motion 4 or 5? Motion 5 is fully color managed and will interpret your tagged color profile – Motion 4 is not.

Ah, I had no idea. I’m using motion 4, have held off on upgrading after all the bad news about final cut pro X. I see you can buy motion as a standalone on the appstore, will this work?

Will what work? Can you buy it alone? Yes you can. You can’t roundtrip between FCP7 and Motion5, however.
