You don’t need to uninstall Motion 3 in order to install Motion 5.
You should be able to open your Motion 3 projects in Motion 5 – but you can’t go the other way.
You can’t import Motion 5 projects into FCP7, nor can you roundtrip from FCP7 to Motion 5.

Use a Loop marker to keep it from stretching. Not sure what you mean by offsetting.

Assuming you are using Motion 4 or 5, just use the Adjust Glyph tool to resize and reposition the letters.

Make sure the font is installed at the Computer level, not just the User level in Fontbook. Also check to see if it’s corrupted – you can validate your fonts in FontBook as well.

Motion 5’s primary value (IMHO of course) – in addition to being a 64-bit app and working in float space all the time and having a great keyer – is its deep integration with FCP X.
