Create or purchase a sheared graphic, ideally white on a transparent background, and use it as an image mask applied to your photo.

Impossible? Just move the Motion app to the trash. Then you can download it again from the App Store.

First, however, you might try trashing your preferences.

1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it.

I can’t tell you without seeing it. Optical Flow is very complex in what it’s trying to do (create new data) and only works well if there is not a lot of movement in the shot. If the camera is moving around you can get all kinds of warping effects.

Well you may not want to use optical flow at all – depending on your material, if you are only slowing to 50%, Frame Blending, None, or Motion Blur Blending may give you better results.

Really, you only want to use Optical Flow for extreme slow motion because it creates new in-between frames. But it comes at a cost: long render time and a huge cache file.

Without seeing your footage, I can’t give you any more specific advice. Did you try just slowing it down to 50% directly in FCP? No reason at all to go to Motion if you just want to slow the clip down a bit.

Properties Inspector, Timing section at the bottom, set the End Condition to Loop (for a video clip). Fro keyframes, use the Keyframe Editor to set After Last Keyframe to do what you want.

You can change the interpolation of multiple parameters at the same time simply by first selecting them all. By setting the interpolation to Bezier, you can adjust the handles to get exactly the animation you want.
