Use the Circle shape tool in the tool bar to draw you circle. Set it to outline only, and use a Write-on behavior to animate it onto the screen.

Rather than “importing” the files, try *opening* them. You should be able to open older projects in new ever versions, including Motion 5.

Two different ways:
1) With the text layer above the black shape layer, apply the Stencil Alpha blend mode to the text layer.
or
2) Apply an Image Mask to the shape layer, add the text to the well in the HUD, and invert the mask.

You can just duplicate your text layer and move it over. I’d suggest before you do so, you trim it to your desired duration. I’d also suggest some training as Motion can be difficult to master by just jumping in.

Just trim each text layer to the duration you want in the Timeline.

Sorry, I meant to say turn it off. They are pixelated because their resolution is too low. If you rasterize them in Illustrator at a higher resolution to match your project, you won’t need to turn off fixed resolution.
And yes, it may well render fine with fixed resolution turn off using a different computer.

I would try turning off fixed resolution, assuming the PDF’s are large enough so that they remain crisp. That looks like a graphics card render error.

Media should start at the playhead position, unless you’ve changed that default behavior in preferences – so you can select your group and press Shift-I to quickly move the playhead to the group’s In point, then add your media. You’ll then need to select the group again, press shift-O to move to the end of the group, select the new media, press O to trim it to the playhead. I don’t know of a faster way.
