The Corkboard template in this collection of Motion 5/FCP X templates does pretty much exactly that – you could break it down to learn how to do it yourself:
Also I cover how to animate the camera in detail here:
https://www.rippletraining.com/categories/final-cut-studio-courses/motion-training/mastering-motions-camera.htmlIt’s done in Motion 4 but everything works in Motion 5

You can definitely do this with a couple of parameter behaviors – e.g. Oscillate to make something swing back and forth, and then apply a Ramp behavior to the Amplitude of the Oscillate behavior to have the amplitude ramp down over time to 0. No keyframes required and looks quite natural.

No, there is no “Save As” an earlier version. There is a workaround whereby you can open the Motion 5 project file in TextEdit and change the version number to 4.0.3 – it will then open in 4.0.3, but it may not have all the features you require. You could test this with a copy. But really, for $50, why mess around?

Use FontBook to make sure the font is installed at the Computer level, not the User, validate the font, and resolve duplicates.

I don’t believer there’s anything you can do about that.

You don’t draw a mask. You select the video, then choose Object>Image Mask. The HUD will then display the well for your text layer to be dragged to.
