    Couple of clarifications here:

    1) A Motion project file is not a “proprietary codec” – there is no codec at all, all content is native until rendered to the FCP sequence codec

    2) ProRes and ProRes HQ are both 10-bit codecs

You are going to have to do it frame by frame.

Technically you are supposed to be able to use Track Points to track individual control points on your mask to points in your video. In reality that may be a start, but you’ll want to turn on Recording and adjust points on a frame by frame basis. Try doing the end, then halfway, then keep splitting the difference.

Do you have the artwork as separate layers? If not, you’ll want to break out the parts you want to write on, then cover them with paint strokes, animate the paint strokes with the write-on behavior, and use those paint strokes as an image mask applied to your yellow lines.

You can make all those three elements in Motion – you can import your Illustrator or Photoshop artwork and animate them there and create your three movies. I explain this process in detail in my Motion 4 Fast Forward training.

It’s the Last Point Offset that’s being keyframed – bottom of the Style pane of the Shape Inspector. Choose Reveal in Keyframe Editor from the Animation menu. But easiest way to adjust it is to go the the Timeline, click the show/hide keyframes button at the bottom left if they aren’t showing, and drag the right keyframe to adjust the timing.
