Oi alex, don’t get me started…
there are so many keyboard things I would change on PP
the most painful for me is having different commands/names for deleting what is between IO points and deleting the clip selected. (DELETE KEY works for me for both!!!) Same applies to cutcopypaste, all of which should have the same commands no matter whether you are selecting a clip, multiple clips, or a section marked with IO.
Really, by default, it is plain STUPID that PP differentiates.
One could have OTHER commands if you DO want differences, but by default
    ctrl-c
    ctrl-x
    ctrl-v
    ctrl-shift-v Paste backwards
    delete to delete
    etc

those are the ones that drive me NUTS on PP, and did way back CS2 when I first tried PP and banged on at the beta team about the commands…

I think they have tried to have some Avid style paradigm… unfortunate cos discreet edit was WAY faster and better with keyboard commands and track selection/mapping/targeting etc.

    till later

  • yep, thanks ian and andy, that works…
all fine now, but hell, my mbp feels like it is going to melt, just rendering h.264’s from the camera files… and slooooow…. especially when most the office is leaving for the weekend already and the sun is out!

    cheers

  • Hi there Andy,
thanks for the quick response… i tried log and trasnsfer instead of xdcam transfer, and it worked!! thank god! now i am rendering, but once that is done I will try your solution… though I will be off Apple products sometime soon, so will not need that, but I will definitely try it in case I need to transfer again before selling the MBPro.

    Tx again!

Hi, thanks, yes I know that, but I am talking about a proper keyframe editor where you can copy, paste, bezier curve and adjust accurately.

Nope, FCX is so far from usable in a professional environment, I have sold my MBP and my macpro is on eBay… I am 100% finished with apple products.

Premiere Pro has been fantastic, and upgrade FCP8 should have been…
    Thanks anyway…

    Hi guys,
I am also interested in what other gfx cards are mercury accelerated… it seems some people have been using cards that are not on the list of approved cards and are getting excellent speeds…
it would be good to know what other nvidia cards work!

    cheers

August 6, 2011 at 8:16 am in reply to: Best laptop for PP

    Hi
I would not keep the MPB… at least if you are going to run CS on windows… my mpb is about to get sold and Im getting a faster PC laptop. My mpb runs SOOO hot that I have to get an ice block from the deep freeze to rest my mbp on, seriously. I think the fans do not work properly in boot camp.

Anyhow, I am on a similar quest, and unfortunately the adobe list of mobile graphics cards seems very limited/oudated, and does not list any gtx cards, like the one mentioned in this thread, so I suspect many more nvidia cards actually do give mercury playback acceleration, but are not mentioned in their list.

    keep us posted…

  • [Brian Thomas] “one thing I really liked about FCE/FCP is Paste Attributes? Is that there, sort of, in PP?”

    Hi Brian
    It’s a pleasure…

Yes, you click on the clip you want to copy attributes from, go to the effects control panel, select the things you want to copy (you may not want to copy all the effects/filters etc… so select those you do want, CTRL-C to copy, then select the destination clips (as many as you want) and CTRL-V.

The other VERY nice thing is being able to drag a clip to another clip, pressing ALT, and it replaces only the media in that clip, ie the attributes/filters etc stay the same.

    Cheers,
    Mark.
