It has a firewire port. Use it for machine control only. It should work just fine.

No, just parts of it. Yeah, I know… it sounds really strange. But my solution to the problem was to make a copy of the settings in my Custom settings folder and select the encoder tab and made sure that my frame rate was 29.97, the aspect ratio was 4:3, and field dominance was bottom first. Since then, I haven’t seen this issue.

How are you exporting your movie? Are you going thru compressor? If not, it sounds like your fields are getting reversed. I had this problem with Compressor recently. Check on that and see if that doesn’t solve your problem.

How long is your clip?
It could be timecode problems. HDV is known for bad timecode, even though you are seeing it continuous, it still could have some unseen breaks. This has happened to me before. The only solutions that I have come up with is to either dub the tape to a new striped tape OR just digitze in smaller chunks.
And by the way, FCP has been known to have problems with JVC. According to Apple, they are working on this.

Shocking isn’t it? I gave my boss a migraine when he said we are adding another show and he thought we could edit three shows with one system…. RIGHT?
I’m just waiting to see how the Sony XDCAM HD is going to play into this. Sony is betting a lot on this puppy…

Here’s what I do. I use the “Good” column to mark my used clips. That’s not the intended use for this but if everybody is on the same page with you, then its not confusing.

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a DVD recorder at a store like Wal-Mart and hook it up. What camera are you coming from? Some cameras will show the info in your viewfinder as output to video.
