Did you set your (Sequence Settings) Video Processing tab, Motion Filtering Quality to Normal or Best?

I understand your problem completely. we just under went the same isssues you are dealing with BUT we chose using the On2 VP6 codec strictly for compatibility reasons. Everybody has flash installed on their system, but not everybody has Quicktime, as I have found out.
File sizes depend wholely on your original timelines and settings. You said you were trying to compress to 700K but what screen size do you want? If you are looking at 320×240, you should be fine, as long as you video server can handle such a throughput. Issues such as yours usually is the fault of the server, not yours unless you have an older computer.
I would say that you need to try different transfer rates and check with your server to see what is the maximum capability for throughput.

My wish is…
I want to be able to select which audio tracks I want to import. At the moment, you have to import all eight tracks of audio, even if you have only two tracks of actual audio. This makes editing tough when you contantly have to delete six tracks of audio that you don’t need.
Oh yeah… Has anybody here exported out a sequence to your machine, yet? If so, have you noticed that if you have two guests and one if on channel one and the other is on channel two – you cannot mix them to center when you export using Sony’s transfer Software.

Well…. That will do it! I’ve just gone thru a problem with them also and I hope to get my replacement card in a couple of days. My problem was relating to the fact that the serial port rarely worked at all. Ayways… It’s nice to know that AJA is so willing to help out its customers. THANKS AJA!

You’ll have to change your capture settings from 23.98 to 29.97. This is what the driver has changed. As for the DV issue, there is a support doc at Apple’s tech support site that tells you how to reset your Quicktime and re-install the latest Quicktime.

Just to put your mind at rest. I’m using the Sonnet card with a ProMax 2T array and it works just fine. I’m with Jerry on this one. I’d start removing RAM and see how it reacts.
Is your array a home build or store bought? Who makes the cabinet your drives are located in?

AVI’s are a PC type of video, not Mac friendly unless you have Flip4Mac’s WMV. And then, importing AVI’s is not a good idea. FCP is Quicktime native only. The codecs and the way files are read are very different on the PC as compared to the Mac. Therefore, you are always going to have problems.
Just for my benefit…. Why did your company purchase PC laptops for the field and use FCP to edit? That’s very silly! The two will never be totally compatible, even if you figure a way to record Quicktimes on you PC laptops.
One thing to look at… What codec is your AVI’s writing its audio to? Look at that, and see if the Mac has a similar codec for its audio. That’s your only shot.
