Yeah, FCS2 does have its share of bugs. But what software package out there doesn’t? Can anyone here show me a perfect piece of software? Has anyone tried using a PC editing with Premiere or an other NLE software?
Come on, folks… Give it a break. Yes, its annoying and making you rip your hair out. I, too, am seeing all of these issues but you don’t see me whining much about it. All we can do is discuss the issues here and see if we can come up with solutions or work-arounds until Apple fixes them. Giving Apple feedback is the most important thing you can do. If a number of people say they all have the same issue, Apple will fix it promptly.
Until then… Deal with it.

Good advice…
Let me ask you this? Are you trying to capture from your camera to you firewire drive thru the same buss?
If so, I bet you are getting dropped frames. If you ARE capturing from the camera to a firewire drive, they need to be on separate busses. For about $35 – 50, you can purchase a firewire adapter card to put in you edit station that will solve this problem.

I bet it was fun. I know that Alton has to be a real card. I have to say that he is extremely talented and I have always enjoyed his programs and interesting style of humor. Can’t wait until “Feasting on Asphalt 2: The River Run” airs.

Very much so… Like Gary said, there is no such thing as “true” 24p in Standard Def video. It has to be processed into “true” 24p. Canon’s 24p on the XL2 is still interlaced. You have to remove the pulldown to get what you want.
As for the quality of the image, if what you mean by viewfinder is the camera viewfinder, then yes, it will look awesome in a very small viewfinder. But, when viewed on a monitor, you’ll see this interlacing. That is because you don’t have a “true” 24p signal and a “true” 24p monitor to view this correctly. And let me say that the computer monitor is NOT a proper monitor for viewing your footage.

Opps… I’m sorry… We had two XL1S cameras. When it was time to upgrade Sony HVR-ZU1 was about the same price as the standard def XL2.
I apologize.
Now, an answer your original question… Are you capturing via firewire? You could select the DV NTSC 48Khz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown Removal. You may have to tweak the settings a little since I do not know the exact pulldown method. If this doesn’t work, you’ll have to remove the pulldown using Cinema Tools.
