[John Pale] “I just tried it. In the inspector (using the 8-bit Uncompressed Codec), I click Video Settings…in the resulting window, I go to the pulldown menu for frame rate and at the bottom I see “Custom”…you can set it whatever you like.”

Oh, the hidden custom option right there in front of my face!

    Thanks, Mark

  • [Kaspar Kallas] “this will not work – use the builtin(deck) upconvertor to get 1080”

So it will work? The deck can up-res to 1080? the decklink hd pro card will not do 720?

Makes sense! They are going to have to support it soon with all the HDV 24p cameras coming out.

You can Remove the grain with AE or https://www.algolith.com/index.php?id=algosuite is better yet!

You need a high quality encoder to make a high quality DVD. BitVice is what I use on the MAC.

August 26, 2005 at 3:05 am in reply to: Can I Convert Media?

    Thanks for the info Tim,

I was thinking of opening the project in After Effect and then making a Proxy of all the clips.

Do you know if this will work?

we are trying to get HDV footage captured to the CineForm codec in Premier to open on a MAC so we can take it to the Facility I work at for Color Correction.

It might be cheaper to get a HD card for the PC and bring the PC to the facility and just finish in Premier.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Mark

April 19, 2005 at 6:05 pm in reply to: HDV in iMovie, is it full quality??

[Erik Lindahl] “iMovie and FCE uses a quite brutal way of editing HDV. The HDV MPEG2 stream is converted to an “Apple Intermediate Codec” during capture. Then when your finnished with your editing, it’s transcoded back to HDV/MPEG2. This makes it impossible not to release a loss in picutrequality while ediitng. “

Well that is what i thought.

I just want to capture medea for a “Film Out Test”. The first one here in LA! I did not want to give them a lower resolution image and I do not want to have to by software for this test. I guess I will go analog out of the camera.

    Thanks, Mark
