    Thanks.

Their answer was basically “too bad”. Once I activated by software it made the dongle useless.

    New plan.

I’ve had some trouble finding an affordable 5.x upgrade so I thought I would pursue another route and upgrade both rooms in the process.

My plan would be to move my current 5.x and dongle to the Mac laptop we tested on. Buy a 6.x upgrade, which states it will upgrade from Xpress Pro, re-version the Xpress Pro dongle and install 6.x and the dongle in the main Avid room and take advantage of the 64bit version. The z800 is already running Win7 Pro 64bit.

Does this sound like a good plan?

Can you explain the difference between re-version and blasting? I’ve used the re-version files in the past but I’m not familiar with blasting the dongle.

No luck with the Allen wrenches. I tried both metric and standard. I’ve used Torx quite a bit in the past…worked in a body shop for a few summers…these don’t look quite right for Torx but it couldn’t hurt to try. I’ll hit a parts house this weekend.

They have a small bump with a crater in the center and they appear more round than hex. I didn’t even try an Allen wrench in them. I’ll give it a try this evening. Might get lucky.

    Thanks!

    Thanks James. All great info.

I’m not concerened with realtime performance. The edit systems have their own media stipes, I just need a place to store consolidated projects, raw footage, project files and rendered media from AE so they can be retrieved for revision or updating as needed.

I’ve been backing up to 50gig Blu-Ray but it’s slow and an archiving nightmare with multiple dvds involved in a single project.

I’ve begged a few more dollars to order 3gig drives so I can start with 12TB in the base unit and add on as needed.

    Thanks again for the response,

Thanks for the reply Ricky. The only account on the system is Admin. Any other ideas?

    Matt.

We were having issues using a client’s HVX200 as FW device and had jumped thru all the hoops in the manual with no success. I found this post and it worked like a charm. Thanks for posting…some year and 6 months ago. 🙂

Thanks for the response Matt. Absolutely right on.

I moved the files to the Mac and DVDSP about 20 mins after I posted. It was very easy to get the loops set up. Avid just doesn’t have the features that DVDSP has…sad really, since they bundle it with $25K to $50K editing systems.

    Peace,
