Hi Dave. Thanks for the post. I am only using a simple key in Keylight. All 3 “players” are processed the same…I’m not sure why one would render differently than the other 2. I have checked and double checked the keys, reset and started over…I always get the same results.

    Any other ideas?

    Peace,
    Mark

Thanks to all who responded. It seems I have a problem with the DNA. I have tried reinstalling several times and even used another CPU and got the same result. I did find out the light surounding the power button on the DNA is amber in color…this means it is not communicating with the computer. When normal, it should be green. This color was present when connected to both machines. I reseated the lower chassis in the DNA…the one that houses the FW socket. The FW busses on both computers are known good and I tried several cables with each machine. It has been rock-solid for almost 5 years, I guess that’s not bad. The DNA doesn’t show the light combinations of a failed audio or video board so maybe it just needs a tweak of the FW interface.

    Peace,
    Mark

Thanks Jon. I tried this yesterday with no change. I am stumped as to why this is happening. I have never seen anything like it. I guess I may be starting over again with a complete reinstall of everything. If that doesn’t fix it, I guess my DNA took a dive :(((

I know some electronics have a “hardware reset” feature like holding down the power button for 10 secs or pressing another button during startup…anything like this on the Adrenaline?

    Thanks again,

April 23, 2008 at 4:36 pm in reply to: AE and QT Reference Movies

    Thanks, Dave.

AE gives me the chance to find the files but Avid uses a database to name and handle it’s files. So, it generates file names like “BR271SDO.OU25.254D.AE3.omf” If the requestor in AE would plug the name of the missing file into the dialog when I search, all I would have to do is point it to the folder and it would pick up the file. But it doesn’t. So I have to search through thousands of files in the folder to find and select each one.

I’m better off going back to my Avid project and create new reference movies and do a “Replace File” for each clip in AE.

    Tough lesson to learn.

That makes sense. The VideoRAID is an Avid product but it’s hardware is branded Medea…the RAID shows as Medea hardware in the BIOS at startup.

    Thanks.

April 13, 2008 at 8:36 pm in reply to: making particular’s emitter follow a mask path??

I did this just yesterday…The following worked for me. Hope this is what you are wanting to do.

    1. On the layer that holds your mask, Hit M for mask, twirl it down and select the “Mask Shape” parameter. Crtl+C on Win, or Cmd+C on Mac. This copies the mask vertices…you should see them all selected in the comp window.

    2. Go to the layer that has the Particular plugin assigned and twirl down the effect into the “Emitter” and select the “Position XY” parameter. Ctrl+V on Win, or Cmd+V on Mac. This will paste the vertices’ positions as keyframes. All of the keyframes between the first and last will show as “roving” keyframes…if you want to change any one of them just right click it and turn off “Rove Across Time”

I just do a “Render In to Out”. This creates a precompute that is consolidated with the other files, but if in restoring the project, I have to change the position of the matte key over the footage below it, it causes a bit of a problem…that’s why I include the QT files in the backup so I can batch import and restore the media. Seems to work fine. I was hopepul of a fix or something I could at least pin it on.

    Thanks for the reply.
