Also try to rule out an NVidia driver issue. There have been many reports where the 306.23 version has been causing problems. I have the NVidia GTX570 with a 800W power supply. Some people have added the NVidia cards afterwards and not checked that the power supply can keep up.
As a test, I would try turning off the GPU and see if you still get those crashes. If it is more stable then you can try changing the NVidia driver version used.

I was able to verify this this. I rendered the mpg file with markers and was able to see them in DVDA. I then closed DVDA without saving and renamed the files and tried again. DVDA did not show the markers this time. I renamed the files back to the original names and the markers showed up in DVDA. If I open the test.mpg.sfl file with an external editor, I see the marker names and also the reference to the file name of the mpg file. So even though DVDA is looking for the same file name, the sfl file is referencing the original file name still.

October 24, 2012 at 2:52 pm in reply to: Interesting fault response about Nvidia driver 306.23I got that same message the other week and have not seen it again since I updated to the newer NVidia driver.

I thought I was just not using the secondary color plugin correctly, but when I tried again I get a solid mask, not the result I was looking for. I switched that out for the Sony Mask Generator plugin and like Andrew mentioned, added a media generated color on the track below.

An easy way is to launch Vegas Pro and use the Windows 7 Snipping Tool or some other screen capture program that allows you to portions of the screen as images.
icons are usually stored in the Windows executables (exe or dll files). You would not only need to find them in each file, but then need to use another utility to extract them out.

Seems like I would start with Sony Black and White and add Brightness and Contrast to get it monochrome. From there a secondary color corrector should convert the blacks to the color you desire.

October 22, 2012 at 10:03 pm in reply to: Universal Change to Event Length When in the Middle of a ProjectI use the montage tool in the Production Assistant 2 software with Sony Vegas Pro and it is great for creating slide shows. Recently they made FASST Apps available, so you could get just this feature for under $10 as opposed to the $150+ of the suite. If you want to check it out:

I would look for any new log files created to get a hint at what was going wrong, but other than that I would probably try rendering to Sony MXF 720p and see if that completes and if it does throw that in a project timeline and render it to mp4 to just try and get the project done. I might also try the titles in 720p rather than 1080p, since I am assuming you set the project properties to match the source video.

In February 2011 I followed the recommendations from the Video Guys Blog DIY project and have been very happy with the results. I ended up with i7 hex core with 12GB RAM.
Below is the link to their current recommendations.
