  • Multiple Sony Vegas 12 Issues

Posted by Kuledud3 William on October 24, 2012 at 6:32 am

I am currently experiencing a plethora of issues with Sony Vegas Pro 12 than I had been with 11. First of all, I experience MAJOR lag whilst trying to edit in the timeline… which was kind of a problem with Vegas 11, but not as severe. Yes, when I match the project settings to be compatible with footage I’m working with the lag goes away, but if I try to work with footage other than the footage its matched to, the lag returns with no mercy.

Secondly, when I try to render a video, it refuses to complete. Getting stuck at a certain percent before eventually giving up…. or getting an error that crashes Vegas 12 all together. (I am trying to render in .wmv though I have tried other formats and the same thing still happens)

And lastly, when editing it will randomly freeze, usually when pushing play to preview or skipping to an area on the timeline. I currently have a Core i7, a GTX 690, and 16 gigs worth of ram. With these specs I’d hope to receive somewhat decent performance in the while editing, though, I tend to overlook simple things :/

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    THANKS!

    -Kule

Why?, Uninstall it and remove all folders belonging to it.
Do a restart and Vegas 12 will be ok.

Why not? I have Vegas Pro 8.1, 9, 10, 11, and 12 installed on one machine. There’s no real need to uninstall. I actually do testing in all of those versions.

Because Edward, some users because of their system specs who
have issues with Vegas 11 and install Vegas 12 alongside it,
some of the same issues seems to port over into Vegas 12.
I notice this weird behaviour happening a bit, thats why.

It seemed to get rid of the preview lag. And rendering seems to be doing ok. But random freezes and crashes are still a common occurrence and strike with no mercy, having to force close Vegas 12 each time.

OK, at least you have some improvements after uninstalling Vegas 11.
What specifically are you working on when these crashes randomly
occures? and do you have any other video based software installed?

The crashes/freezes usually occur when I attempt to preview large portions of the video or skip to a random point on the timeline. They also sometimes occur when I try to change the “Preview Quality”, add video event FX to a clip, or drag a video to the timeline.

And after uninstalling Sony Vegas 11, Vegas 12 is the only video based software I currently have installed.
