Well there is an earthquake plugin…..
It is from digieffects and is called earthquake. It is part of the Aurorix bundle….here is the linkhttps://www.digieffects.com/products.shtml#AURORIX
I haven’t seen it in action, so I can’t tell you exactly what it does, although I would presume that it probably just shakes the image. Other than some of the ideas discussed, what more are you looking for in the way of an earthquake ???

I’m not sure about the compatibility with 7, but some things to check (This is for NTSC land).
Make sure that the footage is not set to de-interlace in the intepret footage dialog box. Also make sure that the frame rate of the footage differs from that of the comp.
Here is a quick set-up….import 29,97 footage. Turn of de-interlacing for the footage. Bring the footage into a new comp and set the comp frame rate to 23,976. Apply the magic bullet to the clip. Click on the auto-set-up in the effect controls window…..magic bullet should congratulate you. Now apply a look to it.
I use Magic bullet a lot at work (version 1 unfortunately) along with After Effects 6.5. I use AE 7 at home (Production suite premium) but I don’t have the Bullet at home.

Thanks for letting me know Ken,
I have used a lot of Chroma keying in my career. I owe a lot to this fine gentleman, may he rest in peace in the big Blue sky.

RON ARE YOU YELLING…WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING…CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG (SINGING KUMBAYA MY LORD) hehehehehe
With an earthquake effect, I would want to animate as Justin said using position and lots of motion blur. That said, this wouldn’t be enough for my needs. I would want it to look like the camera was losing sync and basically having a hard time dealing with the earthquake. I would use motion tiles to get the camera image to roll. I would also cut in a frame here and there with some venetian blinds on, or a tight grey grid (horizontal lines only) set to add on some frames, and possibly multiply on other. If you would have had the pro version, then I would have also used the fractal noise along with a displacment map to create a haze to the image as it moved.
Hope these ideas help

Put the footage into a new comp and set the frame rate of the comp to 60 fields (NTSC) or I guess 50 fields for PAL. Make sure in the intepret footage dialog that you are set to de-interlace your footage. Now take this comp and drop it into a final comp for output (25 fps for PAL)
Hope this helps

TRy deleting the preferences and then restarting the application. If you are on windows, the preferences is an .ini file Do a search on your c drive for *.ini and delete the one that comes up for Boris Red. If you are on a mac, then I am not sure where it is other than it should be where all preferences are stored.
Hope this helps

I guess I am going to have to learn FCP if I want to stay as herd leader in here 🙂
A lot of people seem to be having issues with FCP and Red. I too came from the media100 and it was sooooo easy to use Red.That said, can you apply the filter directy to a clip ??? What happens if you do that ??? Are you still not seeing the video in red ???? Are you preferences set up coorectly ??? Are you using the update video (it is in the preview menu) Have you tried deleting the Red preferences ????
That’s about all I can offer for advice…sorry….I use Red with Avid Liquid and Liquid Blue.

I think that there is a thread lower down the page that deals with this issue….seems to be common to have issues with that combo…
